On October 12th, the news of a woman suspected of arson burning her house and then jumping off a building in Kaifeng, Henan Province, has attracted widespread attention on the internet. Unfortunately, the woman could not be saved in the end.
Several netizens reported that on October 12th, a residential building in Xiangfu District, Kaifeng City caught fire on the top floor (6th floor), and a woman subsequently jumped off the building.
One of the video uploaders stated that the incident occurred in the early morning of that day. The woman set the house on fire before jumping off the building, and at that time, the children had already left the house, leaving no one inside.
From the video footage at the scene, thick smoke can be seen continuously billowing out of the windows on the top floor of the building.
According to a report by Xiaoxiang Morning Post, local shop owners revealed that the woman was in her fifties and the house belonged to her. She set the fire and then jumped off the building, after which she was taken to the hospital.
Another shop owner mentioned that the incident happened around 6 a.m. and that they were still sleeping when they heard many people shouting about the fire. The shop owner said that the woman set the fire and then jumped off the building before being taken to the hospital. The shop owner also mentioned that the woman did not have a job, her husband was working outside, and the children were grown up and usually not at home, so they rarely saw her and were not clear on the specific reasons for this incident.
Staff from the Chengdong Street Office stated that they were aware of the incident, and the police had already intervened, but they had not received any further feedback yet.
It was reported that according to information from the Third People’s Hospital of Kaifeng City, the woman ultimately could not be saved.
