Recently, heavy rain hit the city of Chifeng in Inner Mongolia, causing severe flooding in some areas of the urban area. The square in the Hongshan District of Chifeng was flooded with water reaching the waist, leading to several cars being submerged and forcing car owners to stand on the roofs of their vehicles awaiting rescue.
Videos shared by local residents show that on the afternoon of June 16, at the intersection of Xilamu Street and Chifeng Hongshan Wanda Plaza in the Hongshan District of Chifeng, the water level rose significantly, reaching half the height of vehicles at one point.
In another video shared on June 16 and geotagged in Chifeng, two men inside a car were seen waiting for rescue on the roof as the water approached the door handles. The caption by the video uploader reads, “Chifeng is like sailing in a boat due to this heavy rain!”
On the morning of June 17 around 10 o’clock, three merchants in Chifeng were contacted, all of whom confirmed that the rain on the 16th was substantial. One merchant mentioned, “We also came across videos showing cars being flooded by water. The rain was indeed heavy yesterday.”
