According to the information released by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred near Java, Indonesia on Saturday (September 12th) local time. The epicenter was located approximately 115 kilometers (71 miles) northeast of Teluknaga in Java with a depth of 358.6 kilometers (223 miles).
At the same time, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude of 6.2 for the earthquake. GFZ stated that the depth of the seismic source was 376 kilometers (234 miles).
There have been no reports of casualties or property damage so far.
The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics mentioned that a 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Banda Sea near the Maluku Islands on Friday (September 11th) and clarified that there is no risk of a tsunami resulting from the seismic activity. The agency reported a depth of 143 kilometers (89 miles) for this earthquake. Currently, there are no reports of any damages incurred.
