China Earthquake Networks Center officially confirmed that at 14:09 on July 29, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Wushi County of Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was located at 41.37 degrees north latitude and 78.73 degrees east longitude. The epicenter is 44 kilometers away from Wushi County, 128 kilometers away from Aksu City, and 130 kilometers away from Aksu Prefecture. So far, no reports of casualties have been received.
According to the rapid report catalog of China Earthquake Networks Center, within 200 kilometers around the epicenter, a total of 405 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above have occurred in the past five years. The largest earthquake was a 7.1 magnitude quake that struck Wushi County in Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, on January 23, 2024 (15 kilometers from the epicenter of this current earthquake).
In addition, on July 28 at 8:51, a 3.3 magnitude earthquake with a depth of 22 kilometers struck Shayar County in Aksu Prefecture (41.00 degrees north latitude, 83.49 degrees east longitude).
