Recent days, due to the impact of Typhoon “Shadel,” the town of Diantou in Fuding City, Ningde City, Fujian Province, has encountered severe flooding. Murky water carrying debris surged through the streets, washing away multiple cars; along with flooded roadside shops, including the well-known “First Street of Chinese White Tea,” where businesses suffered heavy losses.
Numerous videos posted by netizens show serious flooding in some areas of Diantou Town, with some vehicles almost entirely submerged. Cars were swept away by the floodwaters, and many shops along the streets were inundated. In another video, a tea shop’s rolling shutter door was damaged, and boxes of goods were washed away by the water.
On September 2nd, a resident of Diantou Town told a reporter that they never expected such heavy rainfall from the typhoon. Areas that were flooded on the night of September 1st had water depths of two to three meters in low-lying locations, resulting in significant losses for businesses. Currently, there is no support coming in, and most of the losses have to be dealt with by the citizens themselves.
Another resident of Diantou Town mentioned that heavy rain fell for two hours, causing floods that washed away many things, including cars. With the water receding now and no official support available, residents are left to clean up on their own, facing significant losses. They feared there might be casualties, but the exact data is not yet known.
A local woman interviewed stated that the water rose to the second floor within half an hour, leaving no time to move belongings. Not encountering such a major flood in decades, all shops were on the ground floor and completely flooded, with some cars washed away. The personal loss was over a million yuan for her family.
According to “People’s Concern” reports, a resident named Huang described that around 11 p.m. on September 1st, heavy rain poured like “emptying a basin of water.” Within five to six hours, the entire town’s streets were submerged, with water levels reaching approximately 3 meters deep, nearly flooding up to the second floor. Upon waking from sleep, residents found the water already reaching half the height of the first floor.
Reports from “Red Star News” mentioned severe flooding in Fuding due to heavy rain, causing “First Street of Chinese White Tea” in Diantou Town to be submerged, with numerous branded tea shops soaked in water. An owner of a renowned white tea brand shop explained that they only found out about the shop being flooded on the early morning of September 2nd from a neighbor’s call. However, the husband, located in downtown Fuding, couldn’t reach Diantou Town due to road closures.
Another white tea shop owner mentioned that the shop stored tea leaves worth tens of thousands of yuan, all now ruined by the flooding.
White tea is a pillar industry in the area, and the specific losses are yet to be determined.
“Lychee News” reported that recent heavy rain in Diantou Town, Fuding, Ningde, Fujian, caused severe flooding, washing away multiple sedans and flooding the ground floor. On the morning of September 2nd, a tea shop owner in Diantou Town mentioned that some areas along the streets were flooded, including their own shop submerged by the floodwaters, resulting in tea leaves being left behind.
A nearby business near Tongnan Primary School mentioned that the surrounding roads had about half a tire depth of water accumulation, leading to the temporary closure of their shop.

She mentioned widespread destruction caused by mudslides and flooding, with vegetables ruined by rainwater. The extreme weather conditions have led to such disasters across various regions, prompting alarm.
