Fujian Health Insurance Bureau Director Jumped to Death 10 Days Ago, Official Quietly Deleted His Information

On October 10, 2024, it was reported that Lin Shengkui, the director of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province, died by jumping from his home 10 days ago. The incident quickly spread on the internet, garnering widespread attention. On the evening of October 9, mainland China Economic Observer Network quoted multiple sources confirming Lin Shengkui’s recent fatal fall which has become a topic of interest across the web. The official website of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province quietly removed Lin Shengkui’s information from the leadership section.

This sudden and shocking news surfaced on the night of October 9, becoming a hot topic on the internet. Reports circulated that the director of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province had fallen to his death, causing public concern and discussion.

According to a report from the China Economic Observer Network around 8:50 pm on October 9, it was learned from multiple sources that Lin Shengkui, the director of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province, had recently died after falling.

The online summaries stated, “The fewer words in the news, the bigger the incident.”

A post online bearing the name of Lin Shengkui’s wife and daughter confirmed his passing on September 30, with a funeral service held on October 4.

It is puzzling that despite Lin Shengkui’s passing being 10 days ago, official sources have remained silent and have not yet publicly announced his death.

On October 9, some netizens noticed that Lin Shengkui’s information had been deleted from the leadership section of the official website of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province, leaving only Deputy Director Cheng Xueying’s information.

Prior to his fatal fall, Lin Shengkui had appeared publicly. According to reports from the official website of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province, on the morning of September 29, Lin Shengkui attended a scenario recitation performance event jointly organized by the Fujian Provincial Party Committee Network Information Office and the Health Care Security Bureau.

In the preceding days, social media platforms had already shared news of Lin Shengkui, the director of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province, jumping from his 9th floor residence and passing away on the spot.

Videos on X platform showed a large blue cloth covering the ground below a residential building, with the presence of police and some individuals appearing to be family members, along with the sound of crying.

Screen captures from group chats indicated, “Fujian Province Health Care Security Bureau director Lin Shengkui plunged from his 9th-floor home at noon and died on the spot! Three former deputy directors of the Provincial Health Committee, Chen Hui, Zhang Yongyu, and Lin Shengkui, have all encountered misfortune.”

On October 5, a Hong Kong media report confirmed the news of Lin Shengkui’s death from the fall, with various reasons speculated for the incident.

On October 6, Netease issued a report titled “Fujian Health Care Security Bureau Director Dies from Fall, Medical Corruption Plunges into Unfathomable Depths”, which was later deleted.

At that time, official Chinese media neither reported on the incident nor dispelled rumors. Furthermore, Lin Shengkui’s information remained on the official website of the Health Care Security Bureau of Fujian Province.

The website stated that Lin Shengkui served as the bureau director overseeing comprehensive work, with responsibilities in the Office, Medicine Pricing and Procurement Department, Fund Supervision Department, Party Committee of the Institution (Personnel Department), and the Provincial Pharmaceutical Joint Procurement Center.

At the age of 59, Lin Shengkui had a long history of working at the Fujian Health Commission, previously serving as the deputy director of the Health Commission, deputy director of the Fujian Health and Family Planning Commission in 2013, secretary of the Party Committee and executive vice president of the Fujian Red Cross Society in 2017, director of the Provincial Health Care Security Bureau in 2020, and deputy director of the Education, Science, Health, and Sports Committee of the Fujian Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference.

In June 2023, Chen Hui, deputy director of the Fujian Health Commission, was investigated; in April 2024, Zhang Yongyu, secretary of the Party Committee of the Fujian Family Planning Association and former deputy director of the Health Commission, was also investigated, both of whom had connections with Lin Shengkui.
