The “Han Guang 41 Exercise” officially kicked off on Wednesday, July 9, and will last for 10 days and 9 nights, making it the longest exercise in history. This Han Guang exercise will gather 7,000 reservists to test their readiness for combat.
One of the highlights of this exercise that military enthusiasts are looking forward to is the new American-made weapons, including the M1A2T Abrams tank, the Seahorse multiple rocket launcher system, and the TOW 2B anti-tank missile live fire.
The M1A2T Abrams tank made its public debut at the Hsinchu Kengzi Training Field on Wednesday, showcasing its impressive 120mm tank gun firing as a “welcome gift.” Four M1A2T tanks from the 584th Brigade took turns on the battlefield and collectively fired 19 rounds, all hitting their targets.
In the second half of 2024, Taiwan received its first batch of 11 Seahorse multiple rocket launcher systems, with the 58th Artillery Command stationed in central Taiwan as the first unit to be equipped. In May of this year, they conducted live-fire exercises, firing a total of 33 training rockets, showcasing their long-range precision strike capabilities, and officially became operational on July 4.
