Heilongjiang Female Anchor Arrested Immediately After Live Broadcasting, Receiving Gifts During Live Stream

In Heilongjiang, a broadcaster conducted online live broadcasts of gift raffles, with the highest prize reaching 50,000 RMB. The lucrative rewards and the attractive presentation by the female broadcaster captivated many fans. However, she was suspected of operating a gambling den and was arrested shortly after the broadcast. The amount involved in the case exceeded 8 million RMB. This news quickly made its way to the top of the trending list. Many netizens questioned why the responsibility of the live streaming platform was not being pursued.

According to Heilongjiang Traffic Radio, recently in Shuqi jurisdiction of Qitai district, Heilongjiang Province, resident Wang was wanted online by the Hunan police for allegedly running a gambling den. Wang was captured in a certain residential area just after finishing a live broadcast on a specific platform.

The police stated that Wang was a broadcaster on a certain live streaming platform, but instead of showcasing talents, she interacted with “fans” in the live stream and guided them to send virtual gifts and place bets for a “raffle”, promising big returns. The promotion of potential high returns attracted many “players” to participate in the “raffle”. However, in reality, this disguised “raffle” was actually gambling. The investigation revealed that Wang alone was involved in an amount exceeding 8 million RMB.

The report stated that despite knowing that the gift giving function and the gift system set up by the live streaming platform were being used for gambling refunds, Wang, as a platform broadcaster, still guided players to participate in gambling. Currently, Wang has been handed over to the Hunan police, and the platform involved in her live broadcast has been shut down.

This topic has sparked heated discussions among netizens. Some questioned why the platform was not being held accountable.

“涵魚H”: Can’t the platform monitor this? Also, many reports are not dealt with promptly. There must be backstage reports, why aren’t they addressed?

“職場達人危老師”: The key issue is the responsibility of the live streaming platform. Why aren’t they being targeted?
