Breaking News: Massive Shooting in North Carolina, Multiple Deaths

【Epoch Times News on August 6, 2026】In Caswell County, North Carolina, a serious mass shooting incident occurred on Wednesday, August 5th, resulting in multiple fatalities.

Local authorities in Caswell County received a report before 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning and rushed to a residence at 352 Brooks Road in Prospect Hill. The town is a rural community located about 50 miles northwest of Raleigh and approximately 28 miles north of Durham.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, multiple casualties were found with gunshot wounds inside the residence. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) confirmed that there are “multiple fatalities” at the scene, and one injured individual was rushed to Duke University Hospital for emergency treatment, but the severity of the injuries remains unclear.

It is currently unknown how many people were shot and whether any suspects have been arrested. The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office is working diligently to notify the families of the deceased, and the identities of the victims, the injured, and the suspects have not been released to the public.

Crime scene investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation have sealed off the area to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

Authorities stressed that the shooting incident was confined to the interior of the residence, and there is currently no ongoing safety threat to the public. The motive and detailed circumstances of the case are still under investigation.

The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency in this case. They are being assisted by the State Bureau of Investigation, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Prospect Hill Fire Department, the Caswell County 911 Call Center, and the Person County Sheriff’s Office.
