On March 18th, exiled former Inner Mongolia official, Du Wen, released a statement on social media declaring a ‘break with the Chinese Communist Party.’ He accused top CCP officials Xi Jinping and Wang Xiaohong of seeking revenge against him by targeting his family members in China. Sun Hao, Deputy Director of the Enforcement Division of the Intermediate People’s Court in Hohhot, carried out the sealing of the property owned by Du Wen’s wife’s brother, as requested by the police. Du Wen vowed to overthrow the CCP.
In a video message, Du Wen addressed Xi Jinping and Wang Xiaohong directly saying, “Xi Jinping, Wang Xiaohong, listen carefully. I am Du Wen – your thorn in the side. If you have the guts, come after me; instead of targeting the innocent, what kind of people are you? Your despicable and shameless behavior makes me sick. Are you even human?” (Video Link)
Du Wen provided surveillance footage showing Sun Hao sealing the property owned by his wife’s brother, as per the police request.
He stated, “The above-mentioned property used to be mine. I’ve learned that this was arranged by the Ministry of Public Security, directed by Wang Xiaohong himself. The highest levels of the CCP hold deep hatred towards me, considering me a thorn in their side that must be removed. Unable to touch me directly, they resorted to targeting my relatives with whom I have some connection.”
According to Du Wen, he had purchased this property in 2009 for five hundred thousand yuan and its current value is approximately six hundred thousand yuan. This property was jointly owned by him and his wife, Wang Weihua. In 2023, the property was transferred to Wang Weihua’s brother’s name. During Du Wen’s imprisonment, his in-laws and brother-in-law covered over five hundred thousand yuan in legal fees for him. Subsequently, his wife sold their joint property to her parents to cover their children’s education and living expenses. Upon his release, Du Wen decided to transfer the property to his brother-in-law, Wang Weipeng, as a form of debt repayment.
Du Wen asserted that the CCP’s seizure of the property is a blatant case of political persecution. He said, “This is not just a routine legal procedure, but a direct retaliation orchestrated by Xi Jinping and Wang Xiaohong, manipulating the police and directing the courts to target my relatives.” He pledged to utilize all his knowledge and efforts to overthrow the CCP.
Du Wen, who previously held the position of Director of the Legal Advisory Office of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government, served as the legal advisor to senior Inner Mongolian government officials such as Yang Jing, Batel, and Hu Chunhua. He was accused of involvement in a bribery case using government funds, which he refused to admit to, resulting in a sentence of twelve years and eight months. After his release in January 2023, he continued to be under surveillance and eventually fled overseas. While abroad, Du Wen frequently exposed lesser-known insider information about the CCP’s officialdom and criticized the party’s system on his self-media platform “Insider’s View of China.”
Last July, Du Wen revealed that prior to the CCP’s third plenary session, authorities in China had shut down all his social media accounts and cleared his bank accounts, as well as suspended his wife’s Douyin account @InnerMongoliaWeihua.
