Deputy Chairman of Xinjiang Political Consultative Conference Dou Wangui placed under investigation and referred to judicial authorities

Xinjiang CPPCC Vice Chairman Dou Wanguan was officially announced to be expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office after being investigated for more than half a year.

On October 7, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission announced that Dou Wanguan, former member of the Party Group and Vice Chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region CPPCC, has been expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office. His qualifications as a delegate to the Tenth Party Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were revoked. He has been referred to the procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution.

The announcement stated that Dou Wanguan discounted major decision-making deployments, made changes, engaged in “seven violations,” associated with political fraudsters, accepted invitations that may affect the impartial performance of official duties, engaged in buying and selling positions, failed to truthfully explain issues during organizational inquiries, illegally accepted gifts, used his power to benefit relatives in business activities, and gained profits for others in mineral resource development, project contract procurement, cadre selection, and appointment by taking advantage of his position, and accepted huge sums of money.

Previously, on March 20, Dou Wanguan was officially announced to have fallen from power.

Dou Wanguan, 62, from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, has been serving in Xinjiang for a long time. He has held various positions in Xinjiang, including member of the Turpan Prefecture Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, Deputy Secretary of the Aksu Prefecture Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, Minister of the Organization Department, Secretary of the Aksu Prefecture Committee, and concurrently served as the First Secretary and First Political Commissar of the First Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

In January 2018, Dou Wanguan was promoted to the deputy provincial level and served as the Vice Chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region CPPCC until his investigation this time.
