A viral video circulating online shows multiple cars on fire on the road, completely blocking the traffic flow. Thick smoke fills the scene, accompanied by the sound of fireworks and firecrackers exploding.
On January 11, the police in Hunan province reported on Weibo that on January 10 around 23:25, a truck carrying fireworks and firecrackers overturned and caught fire on the east-west section of the Xiangtan segment of the Liulu Highway (76KM+923M).
According to the investigation, after the light-duty cage truck overturned, three small cars behind it were unable to avoid the collision and successively rear-ended the truck, causing the vehicles to catch fire. Sparks then ignited the 8 cars parked behind.
The report mentioned that 2 people were injured in the accident. The driver and co-driver of the truck have been detained, and relevant investigations are ongoing.
