On Friday, Usha Vance, the Second Lady of the United States, shared a photo of her newborn son and two family portraits on her social media accounts, showcasing heartwarming moments with her husband, Vice President Vance, and their four children.
In the photos posted on Instagram and X platforms, one captured the newborn baby born just a few days ago, while the other two featured the latest family portraits of the second family of the United States.
Vice President Vance announced on July 19th that he and Usha welcomed their new son, Alec Neel Vance, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland. He expressed joy over the health and happiness of both Usha and the baby, with their other three children thrilled to meet their new baby brother.
The birth of this baby boy made Vance the first sitting vice president in over 150 years to welcome a child during his term.
In the family photos shared on Friday, the Second Lady was dressed in a white dress and white shoes, seated next to her husband with the newborn baby in her arms, surrounded by their three young children: 9-year-old Ewan, 6-year-old Vivek, and 4-year-old Mirabel.
In her post on the X platform, Usha expressed gratitude for all the well wishes as they adjust to life as a family of six.
“Meet Alec – and please appreciate our efforts to capture a decent family portrait with four children!” Usha continued to write.
On January 20th, Vance and his wife released a joint statement announcing the upcoming arrival of their fourth child.
In March, during an interview with the conservative education advocacy group Moms for America, Usha talked about her decision to have a fourth child.
She said, “I always wanted two children, and after having the second one, I realized how much I enjoyed having children that I wanted a third one, and this desire became very clear.”
“But then we had a third child, while JD was running for senator, and since then, our lives have naturally fallen into epic chaos,” Usha added.
The Second Lady also mentioned that having another child wasn’t initially part of her life plan, but her husband “really wanted another child.”
“We discussed it many times,” Usha said, “and then I started approaching it with an open mind and let things unfold naturally to see if it would happen.”
