Mainland Huawei and Xiaomi smartphones raise prices again, with a maximum increase of one thousand yuan

On October 9th, mainland mobile phone brands Huawei and Xiaomi were exposed to price increases on multiple models, with the highest surge reaching 1000 yuan (RMB).

According to a report from “Jiemian News,” the standard version of Xiaomi 17 Ultra saw its starting price rise from 6999 yuan to 7999 yuan, and the Leica version’s top configuration increased from 8999 yuan to 9999 yuan. Other models on the official website also saw a price increase of 1000 yuan from their initial launch prices.

Xiaomi customer service confirmed the price changes but mentioned that the specific adjustment time cannot be queried from the backend.

In another report by “Securities Times,” several flagship stores of Huawei in Shenzhen stated that starting from midnight on October 9th, the proposed retail prices for the nova 16 and nova 16 Pro increased by 400 yuan, and the nova 16 SE increased by 200 yuan.

After the price adjustments, the 256GB versions of these three phones are priced at 3399 yuan, 4299 yuan, and 2899 yuan, respectively. The prices of nova 16z and nova 16 Ultra remained unchanged.

An employee at a store mentioned that they are already selling at the new prices. Another employee stated that the price adjustments were notified by the company and mainly involved an increase in memory costs. As of the publication of the report, Huawei has not responded on the terminal side.

Xiaomi customer service mentioned that the price adjustments were primarily influenced by the rising costs of core components, with memory prices exceeding expectations.

A report released in July this year by Counterpoint Research, a global market research institution, showed that smartphone storage prices in the second quarter increased by over 80% compared to the first quarter, driving up the costs of smartphone components.

Senior analyst Shenghao Bai at the institution stated that the profit margins of mid-range to low-end smartphone products are being squeezed, and some models may be operating at a loss. The increase in costs for flagship smartphones has also led manufacturers to slow down their adoption of new display and imaging technologies.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra was released and began sales in December 2025, approaching nearly ten months on the market. The Huawei nova 16 series was launched in June this year, while the nova 16 SE was introduced in August.

The related news has sparked discussions among netizens. A Weibo user commented that it is uncommon for phones that have been on the market for some time to see price hikes. The user wrote: “The wait for the price hike is finally over, not a price drop as expected.”

Throughout this year, mainland mobile phone brands have made several price adjustments. On September 1st, the Huawei Mate 80 series increased by 800 to 1000 yuan; Xiaomi 17 series and several REDMI models saw price hikes ranging from 200 to 500 yuan, and Honor also adjusted the prices of some products. OPPO and vivo had previously raised the prices of some models on sale.
