Chongqing High School Freshman Dies the Day After Enrollment, Body Shows Multiple Injuries.

Recently, in the first middle school of Youyang, Chongqing, a freshman named Siqi (pseudonym) tragically passed away on her second day of school. Her family claimed that her body had multiple injuries and the school authorities did not notify them before sending her to the funeral home, prompting them to seek help on social media.

The mother of the student involved stated that on the day of the incident, she received a call from a teacher saying her child was missing. Later, she received another message saying that her child was found lying in the restroom and was taken to the hospital. When the family arrived at the hospital, they discovered that the child had already been sent to the funeral home.

“Why was our child sent to the funeral home without our consent?” questioned the student’s family in a video, with the mother expressing uncontrollable tears upon seeing her child at the funeral home. “My son had multiple injuries, a broken left hand, two wounds that looked like knife cuts, bruises on his back… the school has not provided us with an explanation.”

According to a report, information obtained from the cousin of the student involved, Mr. Ran, revealed that on the night of the incident, teachers and newly elected class monitors were having a meeting in the office, while the cousin and other students were self-studying in the classroom located on the fifth floor.

Around 9:10 p.m. that night, the cousin and a classmate said they were going to the restroom, after which one person left the classroom and was only discovered later at 9:28 p.m. Mr. Ran stated, “My brother was very happy going to high school.” Currently, the family has many questions, as the school’s surveillance cameras were not functioning properly. Was the cousin’s fall accidental? How were the various injuries on the cousin’s body caused?

In response to this incident, a staff member from the school in question stated that the public security department was already involved. Longtan Police Station in the jurisdiction mentioned that they were unable to communicate details over the phone.

According to a notice issued by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, the autumn semester for primary and secondary schools in Chongqing started on September 1st.

The incident of a freshman passing away at school on the day after the start of the new semester has attracted attention and discussion on mainland Chinese social media.

A Weibo user, “Xiaoshi Tanji,” questioned, “Why did the surveillance system malfunction right after the school year started? Waiting for the truth to emerge.”

Another user, “Shi Xiaochao”, expressed, “Yesterday was supposed to be the beginning of a new life, but today it turned into the end of life. For a family, this is an unbearable devastating blow. What we really want to say is that the sudden disappearance of every young life should not just evoke ‘shock’ and ‘regret’, but should serve as a profound lesson to continuously improve campus safety and transform tragedies into a force that safeguards more young lives.”
