Recently, it has been reported that Xibei Catering Group (Xibei Catering) has been delaying the payment of resignation compensation and year-end bonuses to its former employees, and the overdue payments have not been made according to the original agreement. Mr. Jia Guolong, the chairman of Beijing Xibei Catering Management Co., stated that the overdue payments will not be made until 2028.
According to a report by “Sina Technology” on September 4th, several former employees of Xibei Catering who have already left disclosed that the company owes them various payments, including the 2025 year-end bonus, resignation compensation, and stock buyback funds, and these payments have not been received in accordance with the agreed upon timeline.
The report mentioned that at the end of July this year, Xibei Catering proposed an agreement change to its employees. The adjusted plan included the 2025 year-end bonus, with the final payment date set for July 1, 2026; the remaining amount of the resignation compensation is scheduled for payment by 2028; and for the outstanding stock transfer price, payment will be made in installments based on the company’s business recovery situation by December 31, 2028.
Some employees revealed that prior to the agreement change, Jia Guolong had informed departing employees through an online meeting that the payments could not be made promptly and would have to wait until 2028 to receive them.
Regarding the financial strain faced by Xibei Catering, which has led to the inability to pay employees their rightful dues, “Whiplash Master” under Beijing Whip Cow Interactive Technology Co., stated on September 4th that this issue is closely related to the operational difficulties Xibei Catering has experienced over the past year.
In September 2024, Xibei Catering faced criticism for serving mostly prepackaged dishes at excessively high prices, sparking widespread public attention and dissatisfaction. Despite Jia Guolong’s subsequent apology and commitment to reform, the company’s customer flow and revenue continued to plummet dramatically.
Public data shows that from September 2025 to March 2026, Xibei Catering accumulated losses exceeding 600 million Chinese Yuan. Earlier this year, Jia Guolong announced the closure of over a hundred outlets nationwide, accounting for 30% of the total number of stores and affecting approximately 4,000 employees. Although it was agreed upon at the time that the company would implement a policy to delay compensation during the negative cash flow period in 2026, the agreement has not been fulfilled as scheduled. Whiplash Master indicated that Xibei Catering has not yet responded to the current situation.
Established on May 29, 1988, Xibei Catering Group is headquartered in Beijing and is a limited liability company specializing in local Chinese cuisine. Its brands include Xibei XIBEI, Xibei Seafood, and Xibei Kung Fu Cuisine.
