Falling Rocks Hit Sedan Passing through Mountains in Fengjie, Chongqing, Causing 2 Deaths and 2 Injuries.

On August 25th, a tragic incident occurred in Luojiaba, Qinglian Town, Fengjie County, Chongqing, where falling rocks from the mountains hit a passing vehicle, resulting in the deaths of two adult women and injuries to two children.

Recently, a netizen (presumably a relative of the deceased) posted information stating that on August 25th, rocks fell onto a vehicle in Luojiaba, Qinglian Town, Fengjie County, Chongqing, leading to the deaths of 2 people and injuries to 2 others. Pictures shared show a damaged sedan from Chongqing at the scene, with personnel and a crane present, as well as injured individuals receiving treatment in the hospital.

The netizen mentioned that the incident claimed the lives of a sister-in-law and her best friend, leaving one niece initially in ICU for treatment, with another person sustaining minor injuries. By August 29th, the 10-year-old niece had regained consciousness and was transferred from the ICU to a regular ward.

On August 30th, several villagers from Jinfeng Village confirmed to reporters that the incident occurred on the morning of August 25th in Luojiaba. After rocks fell from the mountains, hitting a passing sedan, both the driver and front passenger, two adult women, tragically lost their lives. The two children in the rear seats were injured, with one sustaining severe injuries and the other minor injuries. Villagers mentioned that all the occupants in the car were from Qinglian Town, and the two deceased women had surnames Liu and Wei.

Reporters from Red Star News contacted Ms. Zheng, a relative of Wei, who disclosed that both Wei and Liu were residents of Qinglian Town, friends in their thirties, and had children studying in Fengjie County. Prior to the incident, Wei had taken one child back to their hometown to pay respects to her late husband, and Liu also accompanied her. As their children were about to start school, they were preparing to return to the county. At the time of the incident, besides Wei and Liu, Liu’s two children were also present in the vehicle, while Wei’s child was in another relative’s car. The tragic event led to the deaths of Wei and Liu, and injuries to Liu’s two children, with one in critical condition.

According to Ms. Zheng, Wei’s husband passed away in 2024 due to leukemia. With Wei’s recent passing, she left behind two children aged 15 and 11. After the incident, Ms. Zheng rushed back from out of town to take care of Wei’s children.
