The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States announced on Thursday (July 30) that Mercedes-Benz is recalling 310,667 vehicles due to the inability to detect the risk of doors not being properly closed.
This recall affects models such as CLA, A-Class, C-Class, CLE, GLA / GLB, and GLC. Dealers will replace the driver’s side door lock for free.
According to the agency, if the micro-switch in the driver’s side door lock is corroded, it may fail to detect that the door is not properly closed, which could prevent the automatic brake from engaging and potentially lead to the vehicle slipping.
Mercedes-Benz is a luxury car brand originating from Germany, initially founded by Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler. In 1926, the two companies merged to form Daimler-Benz, which was renamed Mercedes-Benz in 2022. “Mercedes” is the name of a dealer’s daughter at the company.
