On April 24th, the Human Resources Department of Dongfang Selection posted in the community, saying, “With regret and reluctance, we share the news that anchors Mingming and Tianquan will soon say goodbye to Dongfang Selection. Teacher Yu had sincere communication with them to retain them, but ultimately respected their decision.”
During a livestream on the 25th, Yu Minhong mentioned that deep and sincere communication was conducted with the four anchors to retain them. Simultaneously, there was two-way communication with the management team to try to retain key talents. Yu Minhong publicly apologized for the disturbance caused to users, fans, and the team due to this personnel change and emphasized that the departure of the four anchors, who had accompanied the platform’s growth, is a loss for the platform.
Yu Minhong admitted that after the adjustment in management, the company’s management style had deviated, focusing excessively on institutional control and neglecting team human care, which led to issues in the team atmosphere. Following this, Dongfang Selection will optimize its management approach, balancing institutional operations with human care to address problems of rigid and high-pressure management.
Yu Minhong stated that the departure of the core anchors will not affect the daily operations, product supply chain, and user service system of Dongfang Selection, and the platform will continue its livestreaming business as usual.
In the afternoon of the 25th, the four anchors, Mingming, Tianquan, Zhongcan, and Linlin, successively posted long statements on their personal social media platforms in response to leaving Dongfang Selection. They all mentioned not being able to adapt to the company’s changes over the past few months, with some even experiencing anxiety as a result. At the same time, they all expressed gratitude to Yu Minhong.
Public information shows that Mingming, whose real name is Shi Ming, was born in Shaanxi Shangluo and graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University, where he was a former physics teacher at New Oriental. Tianquan had previously worked as a GRE trainer at New Oriental in Beijing for 6 years. He graduated from UC Berkeley for his undergraduate studies and from Columbia University for his graduate studies, accumulating 14 years of studying abroad experience. Before the news of their resignations emerged, the two anchors had been on leave for some time.
According to a report by The Paper, the wave of anchor resignations at Dongfang Selection continues to expand. As of now, Mingming, Tianquan, Zhongcan, Linlin, and others have publicly responded to their resignations. Fans used to refer to Dongfang Selection’s “F4” livestream team, consisting of Dong Yuhui, Dùndun, Mingming, and Tianquan, but now all four anchors have left Dongfang Selection.
Data from the Tianyancha App shows that in early April, Dongfang Youshuan (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. underwent a business change, where Sun Dongxu resigned as the legal representative, executive director, and manager, with Sun Jin taking over as the legal representative, manager, and director.
