Recently, in Yunnan, a student was bullied at school, and the father was called to the school for mediation but suddenly died due to emotional distress.
According to mainland China’s JiMuXin News, Ms. Li from Qujing, Yunnan, has a 15-year-old son who is in ninth grade at Tongquan Middle School in Malong District, Qujing City.
On April 13, Ms. Li stated that on March 30, around 3 pm, her husband received a phone call from their son’s homeroom teacher, informing him that their son had been physically assaulted by classmates at school and asked the parents to come to the school to mediate the situation together.
Around 5 pm, she and her husband rushed to the school and after talking to their son, the homeroom teacher, and the other party’s parents, they learned that their son had been asked for snacks by other students since the beginning of the semester, eventually escalating to demands for money, and on the afternoon of March 30, he was beaten by classmates.
“We only have this one child. When my husband learned about the bullying incident, he was deeply upset. He went from the school playground to the mediation room, but after a few minutes of mediation, he was gone,” said Ms. Li. She mentioned that her husband had previously been diagnosed with hypertension, was on long-term medication, and usually had his blood pressure under control with stable emotions.
The death certificate provided by Ms. Li showed that her husband, Mr. Yang, aged 49, died of sudden cardiac death.
Ms. Li mentioned that after her husband’s incident, the school provided an AED, but no one knew how to use it. By the time the emergency medical technicians arrived, her husband was already pronounced dead. Currently, due to the unresolved situation, her husband’s body has not yet been buried.
