NBC’s “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mother has been missing for over 25 weeks, with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office stating on July 28th that investigators are still analyzing a vast amount of evidence and remain confident in solving the case.
In an interview with Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos aired on the “Today” show, Nanos mentioned that the case is still under investigation. He emphasized the need to meticulously analyze DNA evidence and review surveillance footage, expressing confidence in resolving the case thoroughly.
On Monday, Savannah shared a video on her Instagram account, speaking about her mother’s months-long disappearance and the profound pain her family is enduring. Despite the passage of time, the anguish of losing her mother remains unabated. Savannah underlined their commitment to continue searching and pleaded for assistance in locating her missing mother.
She appealed to viewers, urging them to do the right thing and help in finding her mother, expressing a firm belief that it’s never too late to make the right choices. Savannah’s heartfelt plea aimed to rally support in bringing closure to their family amid the ongoing turmoil.
Prior to releasing the video, Savannah communicated with law enforcement agencies to aid in the search for her missing mother.
Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s 84-year-old mother, was reported missing from her residence near Tucson, Arizona on February 1st. She was last seen around 9:45 p.m. the night before her disappearance. Ten days after Nancy went missing, the FBI released footage from her home’s doorbell camera showing an armed, masked individual at her doorstep causing disruption to surveillance video.
Former FBI special agent and crisis negotiation expert Jason Pack, closely following Nancy’s disappearance, expressed curiosity about the multitude of leads pursued by law enforcement. The investigation likely involves extensive digital evidence, including cell tower data, Wi-Fi router records, surveillance footage, and DNA analysis.
Pack estimated that digital evidence in Nancy’s case could amount to several terabytes, necessitating considerable time for analysis encompassing various forms of data. He emphasized the immense pressure faced by criminals harboring such secrets, especially in high-profile cases like Nancy’s disappearance.
Pack noted the significant stress of maintaining such a major secret, highlighting the potential risks of betrayal among accomplices and the substantial incentive of over one million dollars in reward money, which could prompt individuals to come forward with crucial information.
As time progresses, Pack believes these pressures could serve as pivotal breakthroughs in the case, potentially leading to significant developments.
In their continued efforts to locate Nancy, Savannah and her family have offered a reward of one million dollars following her disappearance. The FBI has also provided a maximum reward of $100,000 to solicit information leading to Nancy’s whereabouts, as well as the apprehension and conviction of any individuals involved in the case.
