A serious criminal incident recently occurred in Shaanxi Province, China, resulting in the tragic deaths of three individuals and leaving two others injured. After two days of intense searching, local law enforcement discovered the body of the suspect, Sun Haijun, in an abandoned house deep within the mountains, confirming that he had taken his own life.
According to a report from the police in Shangnan County, the incident took place in the early hours of November 4. The 41-year-old suspect, Sun Haijun, who hails from Shili Ping Town in Shangnan County, committed the violent acts out of personal dispute, wielding a knife and ultimately causing the deaths of three people while injuring two others. Following the attack, Sun fled the scene.
A further announcement from the police on November 6 revealed that at around 10 am, they discovered Sun’s lifeless body in a dilapidated structure located approximately 25 kilometers from the city center of Shangnan County. Preliminary investigations indicated that Sun died by suicide. The investigation into the case is still ongoing, as authorities seek to gather more information.
Reports from local media, such as the Jinan Times, indicated that at around 2:20 pm on the same day, several villagers from Ma Tidien Village in Qingshan Town indicated that the suspect was found in an abandoned house in a remote mountainous area near their village. One villager who participated in the search early in the morning described that Sun was found hanging.
According to earlier reports from domestic media, residents of the affected community recounted that on the morning of November 4, two individuals were killed within their residential complex, one of whom was the wife of the escaped suspect. Additionally, a male victim was also murdered in the same complex, while a female victim lost her life approximately two kilometers away in a separate residential area.
After the brutal act, Sun fled the scene while armed with a knife and driving away in his vehicle. The police had previously warned of the potential danger he posed for further violence. During his escape, Sun’s vehicle collided with a police car but he continued to flee despite the damage. Eventually, he abandoned his vehicle and ran into the forested mountains.
Residents in the area informed reporters that the incident appeared to be a crime of passion. Friends of the victims shared with the New Beijing News that the two female victims have already been laid to rest.
