On October 10th, the Republic of China celebrated its 115th National Day. Ovеrseas Chinese community groups and compatriots from New York’s Chinatown, Flushing, and New Jersey gathered in Chinatown to commemorate the Xinhai Revolution, promote the spirit of democracy and republic, and continue the tradition of National Day celebrations that have been maintained in the overseas Chinese community for over a century.
The exterior walls of the Chinese Public Hall were adorned with two prominent slogans: “Equality, Charity, Justice, Peace,” and “Democracy, Freedom, Human Rights, Rule of Law.” A banner proclaiming “Long Live the Republic of China” hung prominently in the center, complementing the national flag of blue sky, white sun, and a wholly red earth waving in the streets, creating a striking display.
During the National Day patriotic parade, the procession advanced along the streets of Chinatown. The national flag of blue sky, white sun, and a wholly red earth fluttered alongside the parade, accompanied by the sounds of drums and cheers resonating through the area, elevating the festive atmosphere to new heights.
The celebration was not just a commemoration of history but also a reaffirmation of the values that the Republic of China stands for. Through events like flag-raising ceremonies, floral tributes, National Day gatherings, and patriotic parades, the overseas Chinese community in New York demonstrated their unwavering support and love for their homeland, showcasing a strong sense of unity and pride.
As the day drew to a close, the echoes of patriotic songs and chants for the Republic of China lingered in the air, a testament to the enduring spirit of democracy, freedom, and patriotism that continues to resonate within the hearts of overseas Chinese communities around the world. The National Day celebrations served as a reminder of the shared heritage and values that bind the Chinese people together, regardless of geographical distances, and a symbol of hope for a brighter future founded on the principles of democracy and unity.
