On October 26, a notice from the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial People’s Congress revealed the passing of Li Sijie, the head of the Standing Committee in Luohe City, Henan Province. His representative status was said to have “naturally ceased” due to his death. In late October, unconfirmed reports circulated online suggesting that Li Sijie had fallen from a building, but these rumors were quickly suppressed by officials.
The announcement from the Henan Provincial People’s Congress stated, “Li Sijie, a representative elected to the 14th People’s Congress of Henan Province from Luohe City, has passed away. Consequently, Li Sijie’s status as a representative has naturally come to an end.”
Publicly available information indicates that Li Sijie was born in October 1964 in Fugou County, Henan Province. He had held various positions, including Director of the Technology and Education Department of the Henan Provincial Agricultural Department, Vice Mayor of Shangqiu City, a Standing Committee Member and Vice Mayor of the Shangqiu Municipal Committee, and from March 2019 to September 2026, he served as the head of the Luohe Municipal Standing Committee.
On October 23, a user on the social media platform Zhihu, identified as “Feng Qing Yun Dan,” shared a post alleging that they had received information from a reader revealing that Li Sijie had fallen from a building in his office on September 18. The post claimed that, according to reliable sources, “the news has been suppressed, and a small memorial service was held, but the cause of the fall remains unclear.”
On the morning of October 22, this user attempted to verify the situation by contacting two staff members from the Luohe Municipal Standing Committee. One responded, saying it was “not convenient to share information,” while the other simply stated, “we cannot provide any information.”
At the time, a report by New Tang Dynasty pointed out that a search online had shown that information regarding Li Sijie’s death from a fall had been blocked, and relevant articles had become “inaccessible.”
The circumstances surrounding Li Sijie’s death have raised many questions, particularly regarding the official response and the lack of transparency in handling such a significant matter. The swift actions to suppress information and the vague statements from officials have left many speculating about the true nature of the events leading to his passing.
As more details emerge, there is growing public interest in understanding the implications of this incident, both for the individuals involved and for the larger political landscape in Henan Province. The suddenness of Li Sijie’s death, combined with the apparent efforts to control the narrative, underscores the complexities and challenges within the political structure in the region.
Further investigation may be warranted to uncover more about Li Sijie’s life, his political contributions, and the circumstances that led up to this troubling event. The public remains vigilant, hoping for clarity in what appears to be a concerning matter involving a prominent political figure.
