Photo Gallery: Two Thousand Never-Before-Seen Photos of June Fourth Incident (5)

This year marks the 37th anniversary of the “June 4th” incident. Epoch Times has exclusively obtained over two thousand previously unreleased historical photos of the “June 4th” event, revealing the years that the Chinese Communist Party has tried so hard to cover up and erase.

In the spring and summer of 1989, a student democratic movement that shook the world ignited in Tiananmen Square in Beijing and quickly spread throughout China. Millions of students and citizens took to the streets to peacefully and rationally express their opposition to corruption, and to demand democracy and freedom. However, the Chinese Communist Party secretly mobilized a large number of regular troops and launched a comprehensive crackdown on civilians in the early hours of June 4th using tanks and machine guns. According to unofficial estimates, the CCP shot and killed thousands to tens of thousands of people.

An official photographer who was present at the scene at that time documented the history in its entirety, and the vast amount of film he captured has remained hidden for 37 years. In the twilight of his life, this elderly man entrusted these precious photos to Epoch Times for public release, which include both color and black-and-white images, totaling over 2000. Recently, the CCP has been threatening and harassing individuals they believe are associated with these photos, including Chinese and American citizens.

For the past 37 years, the CCP has continued to cover up and suppress the truth of the incident, labelling the students’ peaceful demonstrations as “counter-revolutionary riots” and denying for years the fact that the military shot at civilians. However, history will not disappear because of censorship.

To fulfill the old man’s dying wish, Epoch Times is releasing these long-dormant “June 4th” photos in batches for the first time, guiding readers back to that heartbreaking historical scene and reminding the world not to forget the CCP’s bloody massacre of their compatriots. The CCP is still intensifying its persecution and intimidation of innocent people today, including threatening Epoch Times staff not to publish these photos.
