On November 3, Hong Kong actress and comedian Loletta Wu shared an exciting video clip on her Instagram, showcasing a luxurious, oversized trailer provided by the film crew during her recent shoot in the United States. The impressive size of the trailer, complete with various living amenities, highlights the high standards afforded to her by the Western production team—paramount to those enjoyed by Hollywood stars.
Recently, Wu, who traveled to the U.S. to film a Hollywood movie, expressed her amazement as she showcased the enormous black trailer to her followers. In her video, she can be seen excitedly touring around the trailer, exclaiming, “Wow! I’ve got such a big trailer for filming today!”
Adding a touch of humor, Wu amusingly walked around the front of the trailer, searching for the entry steps. With the assistance of the crew, she finally boarded the trailer and was filmed inside, where a spacious, comfortable mobile dressing room and various other amenities were visible. This luxurious treatment underscores the respect and high standards bestowed upon the celebrated Hong Kong actress by the international production team involved in her current project.
At the age of 61, Wu recently appeared on the Chinese reality show “Flowers and Teenagers 2026,” which took her on an adventure across three countries: Mexico, Peru, and Argentina. Amidst the high-altitude challenges, intense sun exposure, and demanding schedule, Wu experienced significant discomfort and even called out that she was suffering from severe headaches. After being examined, it was revealed that she was experiencing acute altitude sickness, causing her blood pressure to spike to a dangerous level of 174 mmHg, accompanied by intense headaches. This alarming incident caused concern among her fellow cast members, including young actresses Zhou Dongyu, Lin Yichen, and Yin Tao, who were also part of the production.
Celebrated as “the leading female comedian in Chinese cinema,” Wu has carved out an irreplaceable niche for herself in the realm of comedy. Early in her career, she gained popularity through her humorous performances that often involved self-deprecating antics, earning her the nickname “the female Stephen Chow.” As she matured into her career, she successfully broke free from her comedic label, demonstrating a wide range of dramatic talent. In addition to appearing on the variety show “Enjoy Yourself Tonight,” she collaborated with Stephen Chow in “Fight Back to School” and showcased her action-comedy chops as a tough policewoman in “The Heroic Trio.”
With over a hundred film appearances under her belt, Wu has since embraced complex characters in her roles. Her portrayal of the strong yet vulnerable “Sister Thirteen” in “Young and Dangerous” won her the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress, while her performance in “Golden Chicken” earned her recognition as the Best Actress at the Golden Horse Awards.
Wu’s esteemed status within overseas film crews reflects her significant contributions to the industry. In 2022, she was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) as a voting member and an Oscars jurist, placing her among Hong Kong’s elite filmmakers. Furthermore, her role as both producer and lead actress in “Mama’s Magic Kid” saw it representing Hong Kong in the race for the Oscar for Best International Feature Film, strengthening her presence in the Western film industry.
As reported by Sing Tao Daily, during her time in the U.S., Wu and her director husband, Peter Chan, took the opportunity to visit their daughter, who is studying acting at a prestigious local university. The couple has frequently participated in events within the local entertainment scene as Oscars jurors, suggesting they have built an extensive network of contacts.
Although Wu and the production team have yet to officially announce the title of the film she is currently shooting, and specific details remain closely guarded, media and industry insiders widely agree that this marks a significant step for Wu as she ventures into and expands her influence in the overseas market.
