A video circulating online showcases this middle-aged cleaning gentleman, dressed in a dark blue uniform, as he slowly maneuvers an electric cleaning vehicle through the shopping mall’s atrium. His deep-set eyes and straight nose emanate a certain coolness, making him strikingly similar to Hu Ge.
The online community has been lively with playful comments about this newfound celebrity. According to reports from mainland media outlet Bailu Video on November 3, the cleaning worker in question is named Chen Jingfu, a 55-year-old from Benxi, Liaoning. He mentioned that his father is from Northeast China and his mother hails from Shandong, dispelling any speculation of mixed heritage. In June of last year, he applied for the job through a formal recruitment process for the mall’s cleaning staff. Since starting his role, he has been responsible for cleaning the first floor—a bustling area with heavy foot traffic. He patrols the space daily on his cleaning vehicle, diligently wiping windows, sweeping floors, and clearing trash.
Mr. Chen shared that last year, some customers first pointed out his resemblance to a foreign star. However, it was only this year that more people began to compare him to Hu Ge, resulting in hundreds of customers seeking him out specifically for photographs each day.
Despite the sudden attention, Chen remains humble, admitting, “I’m just an ordinary cleaner. I work my hours and do my job well.”
