This week, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador was deported back to his home country.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told Fox News on Thursday, September 10, that “the illegal immigrant Israel Flores-Ortiz was deported yesterday back to El Salvador after sexually assaulting multiple high school girls in Fairfax County, Virginia.”
Prior to this, Flores-Ortiz had just completed a short sentence in Fairfax County, Virginia, and was transferred to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). A DHS spokesperson stated that “DHS will continue to combat predators like Flores-Ortiz to ensure the safety of America.”
According to a report from ABC Washington, Flores-Ortiz was released into the U.S. during the Biden administration and was in his sophomore year at Fairfax High School when the incidents occurred.
Earlier this year, he was arrested for assaulting multiple female students. He was sentenced to 360 days in prison on April 21 for 9 counts of misdemeanor assault, with an actual prison time of approximately 135-140 days after accounting for time served. Additionally, he was placed on two years of probation. He was released on September 8 after completing his sentence.
Reportedly, a few days before Flores-Ortiz’s release, a judge from the Department of Justice ordered his deportation.
The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office informed Fox News on Thursday that Flores-Ortiz was handed over to ICE for detention as required by law. However, they did not provide further details on the matter.
Earlier this year, Sheriff Stacey Ann Kincaid faced questions from members of Congress for not cooperating with ICE.
Sean Kennedy, the head of Virginians for Safe Communities, expressed approval of Kincaid’s decision to turn Flores-Ortiz over to ICE, calling it “encouraging”. Kincaid had previously rejected 615 detention requests within 16 months and only transferred 11 individuals to federal authorities.
