Recently, in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, a SUV crashed into a guardrail while driving on the Jinfeng overpass in Jinniu District, causing the guardrail to fall and hit an electric motorcycle traveling on the non-motor vehicle lane, resulting in one death and one injury.
On September 13, several netizens posted videos on social media claiming that an SUV fell from the Jinfeng overpass onto the road in Jinniu District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The circulated video shows the vehicle rolling over after landing, and several citizens worked together to flip the car back upright and called for rescue.
That evening, the Jinniu District Branch of the Chengdu Public Security Bureau issued a police report stating that a road traffic accident occurred on the Jinfeng overpass in Chengdu on September 13 at around 7:42 am.
According to the report, a 29-year-old man named Jiang, driving a small SUV with license plate number 川A****P, was traveling from south to north on the Jinfeng overpass in Chengdu when the vehicle collided with the guardrail and fell off the bridge at the 3.6-kilometer mark. The damaged guardrail fell and struck an electric motorcycle traveling on the non-motor vehicle lane. The accident resulted in the death of Jiang, the SUV driver, despite rescue efforts, and the electric motorcycle rider, Wei, suffered minor injuries with no threat to life.
Currently, investigations into the accident and follow-up operations are ongoing.
