On November 14, 2024, the case of Li Peixia, a township official in Jiangxi, reporting the senior county official Mao Qi for sexual assault and retaliation, has garnered widespread attention. The latest development in the case is that Li Peixia has been sentenced to three years in prison.
In the first instance trial on November 14, the Hongfeng County Court in Jiangxi ruled on the bribery case involving Li Peixia, the former Party Secretary of Shangfang Township in Wannian County, sentencing her to three years in prison for bribery and imposing a fine of 200,000 Chinese Yuan.
Li Peixia was accused of taking advantage of her position as the Party Secretary of Shangfang Township in Wannian County from April 2019 to February 2024 to seek benefits for others in project contracting and fund disbursement, illegally accepting a total of 1.65 million Chinese Yuan in property from others.
On November 7, the bribery case of Li Peixia, the former Party Secretary of Shangfang Township in Wannian County, was heard in court.
Li Peixia was accused of accepting a total of 1.65 million Chinese Yuan in property from others. Li Peixia pleaded guilty in court, and the court announced that the verdict would be delivered at a later date.
On November 3, Mao Qi, the central figure in the reporting incident by Li Peixia, was expelled from the Party and referred to the judiciary.
The report stated that Mao Qi engaged in double-dealing, accepting entertainment that may affect the impartial execution of official duties, engaging in irregularities in personnel work to seek benefits for others, engaging in power-for-money exchanges, illegally accepting gifts and money, engaging in improper relationships with others, engaging in corrupt exchanges of power and money, using their position to seek benefits for others in project contracting and fund disbursement, and illegally accepting large sums of money.
On July 25 this year, a retired teacher named Li Changliu reported Mao Qi by name, alleging that Mao Qi sexually assaulted his daughter, Li Peixia, the Party Secretary of Shangfang Township in Wannian County, and said that Li Peixia intended to report Mao Qi due to a dispute with him.
In a video, Li Changliu said that on May 23, his daughter, Li Peixia, had expressed her intention to report Mao to the provincial authorities, but three days later she was taken away by the Wannian County Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, preventing her from speaking out. He once revealed on Weibo: “Before Li Peixia was taken away, Mao Qi directly said to her: ‘This time, even if you don’t die, you’ll lose some skin!'”
On August 18, the official announcement was made by the authorities in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, that Li Peixia was expelled from the Party and referred to the judiciary.
Li Changliu previously revealed that he suspected his daughter was subjected to Mao Qi’s “retaliatory attacks.”
According to public records, Li Peixia was born in May 1983 in Shangrao, Jiangxi, joined the Communist Party of China in 2003, and held positions such as Party Secretary of Shangfang Township in Wannian County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province.
Mao Qi, born in March 1982 in Shangrao, Jiangxi, joined the Communist Party in 2000, and held positions such as Party Secretary of Wannian County in Jiangxi Province. The authorities announced in July this year that Mao Qi was under investigation.
