Trump confirms return to Butler, Pennsylvania in October to hold event.

Former U.S President Donald Trump has announced that he will return to Butler County, Pennsylvania in October for a campaign event. In mid-July, he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt there.

During an interview on social media with the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, on Monday night, Trump confirmed the arrangement. He stated, “By the way, we’re going back to Butler, we’re going back in October.” He added that holding an event in Butler would be a “good idea.”

Trump did not provide specific details on the date, nor did he indicate whether it would be a campaign rally, although the event scheduled in October would be just a few weeks before the November 5 election. Pennsylvania is considered a crucial battleground state with 19 electoral votes.

When asked about the Secret Service and local police missing a sniper on a nearby rooftop during the Butler event, Trump mentioned that law enforcement should “learn from” the incident.

He praised a Butler police officer who attempted to climb the building roof where the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was located. The former president noted that if the officer had not distracted Crooks, he might have lost his life in the assassination attempt.

Recent footage from police body cameras showed the officer being carried to the roof edge by another officer. The video revealed that he fell to the ground quickly when trying to climb onto the rooftop.

Local officials indicated that the officer may have distracted the gunman as he was preparing to shoot at Trump.

Describing the scene in the video, Trump pointed out the moment when the gunman aimed at the officer as he was trying to climb up the roof and was unable to draw his gun to target Crooks.

The former president once again praised the Secret Service agents who responded to the shooting incident, including the sniper who quickly neutralized Crooks after he fired his gun, saying, “Clearly, he is an exceptional shooter.”

He also commended the agents who immediately surrounded him upon hearing the gunshots. A bullet penetrated the upper part of the right ear of the 2024 Republican presidential candidate.

“They moved so fast,” Trump told Musk, “Let me tell you, that takes tremendous courage.”

On Monday, the platform X stated in a post that Musk’s interview with Trump received over 73 million views, and more than a billion people saw the post mentioning the interview within three hours that evening.

After the interview with Trump concluded, Musk wrote in a post that he was “looking forward to interviewing Kamala in the same format,” referring to Democratic presidential candidate and vice president Kamala Harris.
