The Democratic Party of China Expresses Strong Protest Against CCP’s Cross-Border Kidnapping

Recently, the United Headquarters of the China Democracy Party received an urgent message regarding a serious situation concerning one of its members, Wang Junjian. According to reports from Wang’s family, he was forcibly abducted by agents of the Chinese Communist Party while he was in the process of sending his family back to China from the Dongxing border in Vietnam on October 30. The family claims that he was taken back to China against his will.

The United Headquarters of the China Democracy Party expresses deep shock and outrage over this incident, issuing its strongest protest against the actions taken by the Chinese authorities.

In recent years, the Chinese Communist Party has not only continued its suppression of political dissidents, human rights lawyers, and pro-democracy activists within China, but it has also engaged in a pattern of monitoring, intimidation, harassment, and unlawful deportation of critics residing overseas. This troubling trend has drawn ongoing attention from international human rights organizations.

It is important to recognize that political differences are not crimes, peaceful expression is not a violation of the law, and the pursuit of democracy and freedom should never result in secret detention, kidnapping, or transnational pursuit of individuals.

Political power may have borders, but the protection of human rights knows no boundaries. No government has the right to turn accusations of “national security” into a passport for transnational persecution!

In light of these events, the United Headquarters of the China Democracy Party issues the following solemn statement:

Firstly, we lodge a strong protest against the suspected transnational political persecution carried out by the Chinese Communist Party. We demand that the relevant authorities immediately provide a public account of Wang Junjian’s status, including whether he is detained, his current location, which agency is controlling him, and whether he has been forcibly transferred from Vietnam to China. If he is being held, his personal safety, access to a lawyer, contact with family, and other basic legal rights must be immediately guaranteed. If he is detained merely for expressing political views or pursuing democratic activities peacefully, he should be unconditionally released.

Secondly, we call upon the Vietnamese government to conduct an immediate investigation and publicly clarify the truth surrounding this incident. We urge the Vietnamese authorities to verify the circumstances surrounding Wang Junjian’s loss of freedom on October 30, in order to ascertain the existence of any unlawful secret handover, forced deportation, or transnational abduction. No country should permit foreign security agencies to illegally arrest and secretly transfer political dissidents on its territory.

Thirdly, we appeal to the international community to pay attention to this situation and take protective actions. We urge relevant UN human rights mechanisms, international human rights organizations, and the governments of the United States and other democratic countries to focus on Wang Junjian’s plight, prompt the involved countries to disclose the facts, ensure his safety, and hold accountable any illegal cross-border detention actions.

We also encourage overseas democratic organizations, human rights lawyers, and the media to assist in verifying the facts while protecting the privacy and safety of his family, and to promote legal aid efforts.

Fourthly, an urgent safety alert has been issued to all overseas members of the China Democracy Party. Considering the recent multiple incidents in Southeast Asia involving exiled individuals, political dissidents, and human rights activists facing cross-border abduction and forced repatriation, we solemnly remind our members:

1. As a principle, do not return to mainland China. Especially for members who have previously participated publicly in democratic movements or are under political investigation, threats, or warrants, it is crucial to recognize the risks of detention and political persecution upon return.

2. Unless absolutely necessary, avoid traveling to regions in Southeast Asia that carry a high risk of transnational repression, particularly Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. Each individual should diligently assess personal risk profiles when considering travel or layovers in these areas.

3. Enhance vigilance towards unusual invitations and travel arrangements. Any proposals for meetings, business collaborations, job opportunities, or assistance with documentation from unidentified individuals should be carefully verified to avoid going alone to remote locations.

4. Establish necessary safety communication mechanisms for travel. Individuals who must travel should inform trusted friends or relatives of their itinerary in advance and retain the contact details of local lawyers, consular offices, and emergency assistance channels. In case of abnormal situations, timely assistance should be sought from local police and relevant organizations.

5. Safeguard personal information and family safety. Do not disclose the addresses, travel plans, identification documents, or family data of other members without their consent to prevent such information from being used for intimidation, stalking, or pressure.

Fifthly, we firmly uphold the legitimate rights and interests of the peaceful democratic movement. The United Headquarters of the China Democracy Party solemnly declares its commitment to advancing the democratization of China through peaceful, rational, and nonviolent means while opposing any form of political kidnapping, enforced disappearance, torture, and unlawful detention.

We will not renounce our quest for freedom out of fear, nor will we abandon the defense of basic human rights in the face of political persecution. Although political persecution may temporarily restrict a person’s freedom, it cannot extinguish humanity’s pursuit of freedom. The more a regime relies on intimidation and secret detention to suppress dissenting voices, the more it exposes its lack of confidence in addressing criticisms through open dialogue and due process.

We demand that the relevant parties immediately disclose the true circumstances of Wang Junjian, ensuring his safety and basic rights while legally investigating any possible cross-border illegality.

The United Headquarters of the China Democracy Party will continue to monitor the developments of this matter and take all necessary measures for rescue.

Stop transnational repression!

Oppose political kidnapping!

Ensure Wang Junjian’s safety and fundamental rights!
