The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) stated that the visit by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Mr. Russell Dlamini, to Taiwan has yielded fruitful results, deepening bilateral friendship. The visiting delegation successfully concluded their trip and departed Taiwan on the evening of the 7th, with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wu Chih-chung, representing the Taiwanese government to see them off.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) mentioned that during his visit, Prime Minister Russell Dlamini of the Kingdom of Eswatini, besides attending the “Ketagelan Forum: 2026 Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue” on the 4th where he delivered a keynote speech on behalf of King Mswati III, also met with President Tsai Ing-wen on the same day and was hosted to a luncheon by Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu on the 5th.
On the afternoon of the 4th, President Tsai Ing-wen met with Prime Minister Russell Dlamini and his delegation, expressing gratitude for Eswatini’s vocal support for Taiwan’s international participation, demonstrating unwavering support towards Taiwan. President Tsai emphasized the continuation of exchanges and cooperation in areas such as energy, public health, talent development, and industrial development between the two countries, aiming for more mutually beneficial results and solidifying the friendship between the two nations.
President Tsai stated that in the face of rapidly changing international situations and the opportunities and challenges brought by technological advancements, Taiwan will continue to deepen exchanges with Eswatini in industries, public health, and digital transformation through the “Yung-Peng Project” on the existing cooperation basis, assisting in realizing development visions and creating more mutual benefits to advance the bilateral friendship. Finally, she wished the visiting delegation a smooth and successful visit and asked Prime Minister Dlamini to convey Taiwan’s sincere greetings to King Mswati III and the Queen Mother.
Prime Minister Dlamini pointed out that King Mswati III is dedicated to deepening the special relationship between the two countries and is greatly encouraged by the achievements both sides have accomplished together. The shared vision of the two countries is not only to maintain a longstanding friendship but also to elevate the bilateral relationship into a modern strategic partnership encompassing political resilience, economic transformation, technological innovation, and benefiting the people of both nations.
Dlamini expressed that as trusted partners, Taiwan and Eswatini can further deepen cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, innovation, digital transformation, healthcare, education, agriculture, renewable energy, and empowering youth, based on shared values of democracy, peace, mutual respect, and sustainable development; believing that the partnership between the two sides will continue to flourish for generations to come.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Prime Minister Dlamini reiterated multiple times during his visit the stability of the relationship between Taiwan and Eswatini, emphasizing that the Eswatini government and people highly value the longstanding friendship with Taiwan and expressed gratitude for Taiwan’s assistance in various fields such as public health, agriculture, education, economic trade, vocational training, digital transformation, youth and women’s empowerment, and tourism.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that during this visit, Prime Minister Dlamini also visited important financial institutions, information technology companies, and green energy technology bases in Taiwan, actively seeking more opportunities for cooperation between Taiwan and Eswatini in financial exchanges, technological innovation, sustainable green energy, and industrial upgrading.
This visit marked Prime Minister Dlamini’s second visit to Taiwan since assuming office in November 2023. Eswatini established formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan shortly after its independence in 1968, and the bond between the two countries has remained rock solid for 58 years. The government of the Republic of China will continue to work hand in hand with Eswatini, promoting the advancement of bilateral relations on a solid foundation of cooperation, and expanding diverse partnership projects in various fields to bring more welfare and prosperity to the people of both countries.
