Chinese Weapon Equipment Group’s Huazhong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., former general manager and chairman Liu Yuting was investigated on September 8, 2026. The Chinese Weapon Equipment Group is a super-large state-owned military industrial enterprise under the Chinese Communist Party, and in recent years, several senior executives have been taken down.
On September 8, 2026, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Chinese Communist Party and the National Supervision Commission announced on their website that Liu Yuting, the former Party Secretary and chairman of Huazhong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., is suspected of serious violations of discipline and laws, and is under investigation.
Public information shows that Liu Yuting, born in September 1965, holds a university degree and is a senior engineer. From August 2004 to March 2012, Liu Yuting served as a director and general manager of Huazhong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.; from March 2012 to December 2023, he served as chairman and Party Secretary; since December 2023, he has been a director of Wuhan Binhu Electronics Co., Ltd., and Hubei Huazhong Changjiang Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd.; from February 2024 to May 2025, he served as a director of the listed company Baoding Tianwei Power Transformation Electric Co., Ltd.
According to the official website, Liu Yuting had served as a senior executive for over 19 years at Huazhong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., which belongs to the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group Co., Ltd. The company is mainly engaged in the production and sales of chemical raw materials and pharmaceutical products, with 192 drug approval numbers for chemical raw materials, small-volume injections, solid preparations, etc. It is a designated manufacturer of national second-class psychotropic drugs and family planning drugs. The company’s leading product, Vitamin B1, is an “invisible champion” in the industry with an annual production capacity of 3,000 tons, holding about 40% of the global market share.
Additionally, Wuhan Binhu Electronics Co., Ltd., and Hubei Huazhong Changjiang Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., where Liu Yuting served as a director, are also subsidiaries of the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group. Baoding Tianwei Power Transformation Electric Co., Ltd., where Liu Yuting served as a director, was long controlled by the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group and its relevant equity was transferred to the China Electrical Equipment Group Co., Ltd. in late 2024.
Established on July 1, 1999, the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group is mainly engaged in military equipment research, design, and manufacturing and is one of the top ten military industrial enterprises of the Chinese Communist Party. It is now considered a super-large state-owned central enterprise directly managed by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
In recent years, the Chinese Communist Party’s military system has been undergoing continuous clean-up, resulting in several senior executives within the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group being taken down.
On May 23, 2026, Xu Liuping, the Secretary of the Party Group and Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, was removed from his position. Xu Liuping had long served in the Chinese Communist Party’s military industrial enterprise, having been the general manager of the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group and the chairman of FAW Group.
On April 14, 2026, the former deputy general manager of the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group, Liu Weidong, was sentenced in the first instance of a bribery case, where he was found to have taken bribes of over 41.39 million RMB and was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Liu Weidong was investigated in February 2025 as he neared retirement.
Furthermore, Liu Weidong’s superior and chairman of the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group, Xu Xianping, has mysteriously disappeared since January 2025, leading to speculations about his involvement in some incident.
Chen Guoying, who was appointed as the general manager of the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group in February 2022, has been “missing” since July 2023. On April 12, 2024, Zhang Yujin was appointed as the general manager of the Chinese Weapon Equipment Group, but the Chinese authorities did not release any information about Chen Guoying’s dismissal or disclose his whereabouts.
