On December 8th, US President-elect Trump appointed his personal lawyer and spokesperson Alina Habba as a presidential advisor.
Habba has handled some high-profile civil cases for Trump, but she is most well-known for frequently defending Trump on television. She also served as a senior advisor for Trump’s campaign team.
In a statement on social media, Trump said, “Alina has always been a tireless advocate for justice, a staunch defender of the rule of law, and a valuable advisor to my campaign and transition teams.”
“Her unwavering loyalty and unmatched determination have seen us through countless ‘trials’ and battles, as well as numerous days in the courtroom,” Trump wrote.
Trump stated that Alina, a first-generation American of Middle Eastern descent, has become a role model for women in law and politics, and was recently selected as the Chaldean Woman of the Year.
Habba runs a law firm and has represented Trump in various civil lawsuits, including defamation suits brought by former “Apprentice” contestant Summer Zervos and columnist E. Jean Carroll.
Outside the courtroom, Habba has made multiple appearances on television and in the media, becoming a key figure in defending Trump and often criticizing the criminal charges he faces.
Trump said in the statement, “Few people understand the weaponization of the unjust legal system better than Alina. With courage and an unwavering commitment to justice, she tirelessly fights the full force of the legal battle.”
Habba wrote on X platform, “Serving as an honor for the 45th and 47th Presidents, as well as the American people, is a lifelong privilege for me.”
On Sunday, Trump also announced that he would be bringing back former aide Michael Anton to serve as the Director of Policy Planning at the State Department. Anton previously served as the spokesperson for the National Security Council (NSC) from 2017 to 2018.
Trump also mentioned that he would be appointing Michael Needham, former chief of staff to Senator Marco Rubio, as a counselor to the State Department. Rubio has been nominated by Trump as the new Secretary of State.
