【Good News Time】Former associate of Wang Qishan, Zhang Shuofu, falls from grace, revealing who?

On October 8th, a tremor is once again rocking the political arena in Guangdong, China as Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress and former Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee, Zhang Shuo Fu, was officially announced to be under investigation.

Of particular interest is that Zhang Shuofu has not only worked with former member of the Central Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party, Ma Xingrui, but is also said to have close ties with associates of Wang Qishan.

On the same day that Zhang Shuofu was under investigation, Xu Chuanzhi, a former deputy ministerial-level commissioner of the Central Inspection Commission and an associate of Wang Qishan, was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The succession of these two cases has once again raised public concern over the personnel relationships within the Chinese Communist Party’s political arena.

Meanwhile, a Chinese-American woman named Zhang Wanying, who is suspected of conducting surveillance on the eldest son of the President of the Republic of China, Lai Ching-te, and his family in California under the orders of the Chinese government, appeared in a federal court in Los Angeles. Despite her defense lawyer offering approximately $1.2 million worth of property as collateral, the judge determined that she poses a higher risk of fleeing and ordered her to remain in custody without bail.
