The “2026 Hong Kong and Macau Residents Adaptation Life Seminar,” co-organized by the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Cooperation Promotion Association and the Mainland Affairs Council, concluded today (2nd) after a series of 10 sessions, attracting over 200 participants from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Through learning first aid, they collectively contribute to enhancing Taiwan’s societal resilience.
The Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Cooperation Promotion Association issued a press release stating that the 10-round nationwide tour of the 2026 Hong Kong and Macau Residents Adaptation Life Seminar, themed “Rescue Requires You,” focused on first aid training. The content covered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) operation, as well as basic splinting for fractures and trauma, strengthening participants’ ability to “help oneself and others” in critical situations.
Lu Changshui, Director of the Hong Kong, Macau, and Mongolia Affairs Department of the Mainland Affairs Council and Secretary-General of the Cooperation Promotion Association, delivered a speech at the seminar emphasizing that with the increasing number of Hong Kong and Macau residents coming to Taiwan for exchanges, residence, and settlement, they have become part of Taiwan’s extended family. Integrating new residents from Hong Kong and Macau into the national disaster prevention and emergency medical education system not only demonstrates humanitarian care but also embodies the social stability power of “regardless of background, protect our home together.”
Lu Changshui underscored that the government is actively enhancing Taiwan’s societal resilience. In the face of natural disasters or major emergencies, in addition to relying on professional rescue systems, it is crucial that the general public possess basic self-rescue and mutual assistance capabilities, which are at the core of societal resilience.
The Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Cooperation Promotion Association stated that they will continue organizing diverse exchange activities this year to support Hong Kong and Macau residents in adapting to local life and development. These activities include “Caring for Hong Kong and Macau Residents Settling in Taiwan Discussion Forum,” “Friends from Hong Kong – Join Hands for Beach Clean-Up and Ocean Conservation,” “Healthy Walks, Public Welfare Mountain Clean-Up, and Life Adaptation Discussions,” “Hong Kong Film Festival,” “6th Hong Kong and Taiwan Instagram Graphic and Text Selection Activity,” and “Friends from Hong Kong Festival Market Event”.
