On September 30th, Hong Kong singer Sally celebrated her 65th birthday. She took to social media to reveal that she had made a big mistake over the past year – mistakenly believing she was already 65 years old and telling everyone so. It wasn’t until her birthday this year that she realized she had miscalculated her age last year.
Reflecting on the past year, Sally described it as a peak in her life. Since October 2025, she and her husband George Lam embarked on the “WE ARE ONE” world concert tour. They traveled to different cities from China to Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, and Canada. After many years, they were back on stage together for long performances, which Sally described as a profoundly moving experience that surpassed all expectations.
What impressed the audience the most was the endurance shown by these veteran singers on stage. At nearly eighty years old, George Lam maintained powerful high notes and effortlessly sang and danced for nearly 3 hours. Sally, at 65, still possessed a rich voice and turned each performance into a living history of Cantopop music, garnering mass sing-alongs with hits like “Choice,” “Chic,” “Blessing,” and “I Need You Every Minute.”
Sally and George broke the distance between traditional superstar concerts, creating an atmosphere of a warm “get-together with old friends.” During their Hong Kong concert, they showed care by gifting each audience member a “goodie bag” containing abalone, vitamin C, snacks, and throat lozenges, adding a heartwarming and local touch to the event.
On stage, the couple explained to the audience that the tour’s name, “WE ARE ONE,” not only represented their marriage but also conveyed wishes of happiness and vitality for their fans, encouraging everyone to age joyfully and live passionately, just like they plan to do as they grow old together.
Off-stage, the past year was significant for the iconic couple in the Hong Kong music scene. In July, they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary, known as the “Pearl Wedding.” Instead of extravagant parties, they chose to gather with their son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, cherishing the warmth of three generations together. Sally admitted to not planning her life but rather embracing whatever comes her way, treasuring it all for the long haul.
