The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China announced today (28th) that Morocco has resumed accepting visa confirmation letter applications from Taiwanese nationals for “tourism” purposes since the 21st. However, as Morocco has not officially announced the related adjustments and is only accepting “tourism” applications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China will conduct ongoing discussions on reopening visa applications for Moroccan nationals to visit Taiwan.
Five Dragons, a Moroccan travel agency, confirmed on its official website that the Visa Confirmation Letter (VCL) applications are now being accepted and they will resume providing visa letter delivery services for Taiwanese travelers starting immediately.
In response to inquiries from the Central News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China stated that on September 25th, relevant personnel contacted the Moroccan Embassy in Japan and received initial verbal confirmation that the Moroccan government has resumed accepting visa confirmation letter applications from Taiwanese nationals for “tourism” purposes since September 21st.
Regarding whether Taiwan will also resume accepting visa applications from Moroccan nationals to visit Taiwan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that since Morocco has not officially announced the related adjustments and based on current information, Morocco is only accepting applications for “tourism” purposes. The Ministry will further confirm the situation of Taiwanese nationals applying for Moroccan visas and will discuss reopening visa applications for Moroccan nationals to visit Taiwan on a rolling basis.
Morocco had previously instructed all its global embassies and consulates in July to suspend the processing of VCL applications, affecting Taiwanese nationals planning to visit Morocco. In accordance with the principle of reciprocity, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had temporarily suspended accepting visa applications from Moroccan nationals to visit Taiwan, except those approved on a case-by-case basis.
