Recently, a scenic area in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, recruited “wildman” actors with a daily wage of 200 Chinese Yuan; while the first batch of 18 similar positions in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province attracted over 600 applicants.
According to the report from “Southern Metropolis Daily,” the Erlong Mountain Xingluo Ji Da Forest Scenic Area in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou, released recruitment information on September 24, recruiting “wildman NPCs.”
NPC originates from electronic gaming terminology, and currently refers to staff who play roles in the scenic area and interact with visitors. The recruited personnel are required to dress up as “wildmen”, playing in the river with visitors, guessing games, and cooking corn.
The scenic area staff mentioned that the working period is from September 25 to October 7, with a daily wage of 200 Yuan, including two meals, and wages are settled daily; age and gender are not limited, and those with relevant performance experience are preferred.
They also noted that after the recruitment information was released, inquiries kept increasing, with the originally available dormitories now full. New registrants have to arrange accommodation on their own. Among the inquirers are those who have been engaged in role-playing at scenic areas for a long time, as well as individuals expressing that they are under pressure and seeking a place to “go wild.”
Previously, the Shanhai Jiulongyuan Scenic Area in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province also recruited “wildman” actors with a daily wage of 200 Yuan and inclusive of meals and accommodation. The head of the scenic area mentioned that the first batch of 18 positions attracted over 600 applicants, some of whom traveled from Sichuan specifically to apply.
The selected candidates include students, individuals who were originally working as wedding hosts, and elderly people looking to experience a new line of work.
In June of this year, the Qingxi River Drifting Scenic Area in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, recruited “wildmen” with a daily wage of 300 Yuan and inclusive of meals and accommodation, initially hiring 4 people, but receiving over 1000 resumes.
The person in charge of the Luzhou scenic area stated that about 90% of the resumes came from male university students around the age of 20, with many applicants stating in their job application reasons that they hope to release stress and experience a different lifestyle.
