The fighter jet crashed near an intersection, authorities have blocked off the area and urged drivers to avoid the crash site.
Emergency response departments are responding to the plane crash that occurred in northern Michigan. According to the Michigan National Guard, the crashed aircraft was an F-16 fighter jet belonging to the 149th Squadron of the Texas Air National Guard. The pilot ejected before the crash and is currently in stable condition.
A local evacuation order has been issued for the area.
The crash site is located in Blair town, which is southwest of Traverse City in Grand Traverse County. According to local media outlet 9and10News, Brandon Perry, the acting emergency management coordinator of the county, confirmed that rescue personnel have arrived at the crash site.
The Texas Air National Guard said in a statement that the F-16 fighter jet that crashed was carrying out a joint training mission at the time. The squadron has a training base in San Antonio, Texas.
According to Broadcastify, the Grand Traverse County 911 emergency call center received the report of the plane crash.
The county emergency management department has issued an evacuation order for County Road 633 from Jefferson Pl to Blair Township Rd.
