On the evening of September 12, 2026, some of the cast and crew of New Century Films attended the Toronto Nollywood International Film Festival (TINFF) awards ceremony and walked away with five awards.
As part of the tenth-anniversary celebration, this year’s Nollywood Film Festival was grander and more spectacular in scale. The festival also recognized New Century Films as a partner and has been inviting the New Century Films team to participate in festival activities for several years.
Three films from New Century Films were nominated at the festival, including the short film “The Nanny”, the medium-length film “The Lottery”, and the feature film “Waiting”, totaling 26 nominations. They ultimately won five awards, including Best Asian Short Film, Best Director, Best Performance, Best Experimental Short Film, and Best Poster.
On September 5, the festival screened the three films “The Nanny,” “The Lottery,” and “Waiting.”
Phoenix Kuo Kong, a Taiwanese entrepreneur, commented after watching the films, “Although the films were short, they carried profound messages, both in terms of storytelling and conveying positive ideals. I believe these films were exceptionally well-made and left a lasting impression on me.” She emphasized the importance of inspiring kindness in a world plagued by moral decline and commended New Century Films for their efforts in this regard.
The founder of the film festival, ISIORO T. JABORO, congratulated New Century Films on their achievements, stating, “The films produced by New Century Films are fantastic. Our judges loved them, I loved them, and I look forward to seeing New Century’s works every year. These films cover a range of genres, addressing real-world issues and humor that makes people laugh. Your five awards demonstrate that when you produce quality work, we will provide a platform to showcase it and celebrate your success.”
He further expressed that this significant 10th edition of the film festival was inspiring, colorful, and fruitful. TINFF is certified by the Canadian Screen Award–Qualifying Festival and Telefilm Canada, recognized as one of the 25 approved medium-sized film festivals for the 2026–2027 year, and an officially IMDb-certified film festival.
During the awards ceremony, Hui Yue, a producer at New Century Films, remarked, “Our films were able to be showcased at the festival, and we thank TINFF for embracing the universal values of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance that the films convey.” She expressed delight in witnessing the growth and changes of the festival over the past decade.
Since its establishment, New Century Films has produced over seventy films, focusing on presenting the realities of Chinese society, reflecting current social realities without funding or constraints from the Chinese government. In the midst of the world’s great changes, New Century Films continues to uphold the universal values of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance, using traditional Chinese divine culture as the aesthetic foundation to create spiritually uplifting films.
On the same day, New Century Films also received 12 awards from the International Comedy and Art Film Festival (TICAFF), Brampton Nollywood International Film Festival (BINFF), and Kitchener-Waterloo International Film Festival (KWIFF), including Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Film, and Best Editing awards.
