British travel group Jet2 submitted a trading update statement to the London Stock Exchange on September 3rd, reporting that the demand for summer holidays in 2026 continues to be strong. As of the end of August, the number of passengers booked has increased by 8.8% compared to the same period last year, with growth in both package holidays and flight-only services.
Data shows that Jet2 has increased its seat capacity by 7.6% this summer compared to last year, reaching 19.9 million seats. By the end of August, the average load factor was 1.5 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Despite the recent trend of passengers booking closer to departure dates in recent years, the company stated that overall demand remains robust.
Looking ahead to the winter season, Jet2 plans to offer 5.9 million seats in the 2026-2027 winter season, an 8% increase from the previous winter. The business performance at London Gatwick Airport has exceeded initial expectations, leading the company to increase the number of aircraft it will deploy at the airport to seven for the summer of 2027.
Jet2 announced that it has hedged 93% of its aviation fuel requirements until the end of the fiscal year in March 2027, at an average price of around $753 per ton. Additionally, over 90% of its foreign exchange requirements have also been hedged, helping to mitigate the impact of oil price and exchange rate fluctuations on costs.
In addition to its operational performance, Jet2 also revealed plans to move its stock from the London Stock Exchange AIM (Alternative Investment Market) to the main market of the London Stock Exchange (LSE), with the aim to complete the transition before the end of the current fiscal year.
The company stated that this move reflects its growth in scale over the past decade, and is expected to attract a broader range of UK and international institutional investors.
