Recently, a Fujian visiting resident exposed that over 400 petitioners are being detained at the Shengkang Psychiatric Hospital in Fuzhou. They are subjected to torture such as electric shocks, forced feeding, and some have been driven insane or even died.
In her late 70s, Chen Xiufang, a visiting resident from Jin’an District, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, was suppressed due to her years of rights defense. In March 2023, she was forcibly taken to the Fuzhou Shengkang Psychiatric Hospital by the police. There, she overheard a doctor saying that the hospital was detaining over 400 petitioners.
She told Epoch Times, “A doctor there secretly told me that the hospital has over 800 psychiatric patients, with more than 400 of them being detained petitioners, accounting for half of the total number of patients.”
Chen Xiufang said that just one psychiatric hospital is holding so many petitioners. Extrapolating nationwide, there are likely more psychiatric hospitals detaining petitioners, which is quite terrifying.
Recalling the ordeal, she was forcibly tied to a bed for 3 days, subjected to forced feeding, medication, and nearly lost her life.
“They stripped me naked, tied up my hands and feet. When I struggled and protested, several male attendants rushed over, pinched my nose, pried open my mouth with a steel plate, pulled out my teeth, took off my pants, forcibly medicated me, and even tranquilized me,” she said.
“Some were electrically shocked, better off dead,” Chen Xiufang said, describing how she saw a nearly 60-year-old male petitioner screaming and shouting every night by the window, which was very frightening.
Visiting petitioner Su Xiao (pseudonym) told Epoch Times, “Those detained in the psychiatric hospital are being bound, forcibly fed medication, and some have died.”
While detained at the psychiatric hospital, local authorities deceived Chen Xiufang’s son in Australia, claiming that his mother had severe mental disorders and demanding his immediate return, or else he would be put on a national security blacklist.
Her son was then suffering from a high fever and undergoing intravenous therapy. Upon being deceived into returning to the country, the police harassed him daily, asking him to report to the police station, which delayed his treatment and led to his death.
“My son was coerced back on April 7th by the government, or else he would be put on the national security blacklist. The police harassed my son, and when my son had a high fever back then, he had no time to seek medical treatment. He passed away on May 8th,” Chen Xiufang said.
Chen Xiufang’s son also told her that the authorities threatened him that if Chen Xiufang did not give up her rights defense and protest, they would not allow him to return to Australia.
Expressing complete disappointment in the Chinese Communist regime, Chen Xiufang stated, “If I continue to face suppression and persecution, I will go to the United States and protest in front of the Chinese Embassy.”
