Lin Junyi Nominated for Golden Melody Awards After 30 Years, Bursts into Tears Upon Hearing the News

The 35th Golden Melody Awards nominations were announced in Taiwan on the 16th. Lin Junyi, a popular tenor singer who gained fame for imitating the renowned singer Fei Yuqing, burst into tears upon hearing the news of his nomination for Best Taiwanese Male Singer. He had always felt like an outsider in the music industry and was overwhelmed by the nomination, exclaiming, “It feels like a dream!”

Lin Junyi, who was previously nominated for Best Newcomer at the 4th Golden Melody Awards, first gained recognition at the age of 12 by winning the “Five-Lamp Award” on a Taiwanese TV show, becoming the first child to achieve this feat five times in a row. He has since released five solo albums, and in 2012, he won the championship on a TV show by impersonating Fei Yuqing, propelling him to stardom.

At 45 years old, Lin Junyi is a multi-talented artist who not only impresses with his singing but also shines in hosting, acting, and stage performances.

Lin Junyi admitted that he had completely forgotten that the Golden Melody Awards nomination list would be announced on the 16th. While he was at a café at that moment, he heard his good friend Cao Yawen reading out his name, and he revealed the emotional moment by saying, “I was crying like a crazy person in the corner! After all, it’s been over thirty years since my last nomination, and it had been nine years since my last album before this one.”

Expressing his gratitude for the recognition from the Golden Melody Awards judges, Lin Junyi also gave special thanks to his mother for her understanding and to his media agency, Media Store, for their support. Feeling like he was almost on the fringes of the music industry, he is grateful for the opportunity to return to the recording studio to do the work he loves the most, stating, “Even today, it still feels like a dream!”
