Welcome to the December 9th episode of “News Insight”, featuring senior political and economic commentator Wu Jialong as the guest and hosted by Zhang Dongxu.
Today’s focus: The sudden collapse of the Syrian regime, a reference for the CCP? Fragmentation of World War! The United States withdraws from the Middle East, wearing down evil regimes in prolonged conflicts. Beyond just food and entertainment, attention must be paid to red infiltration in South Korea! Does the CCP’s hostility towards private property inevitably lead to its internal collapse?
The Middle East landscape is undergoing a major reshuffle, with Syria experiencing a regime change and the CCP’s old friend Assad falling. South Korea faced a swift martial law crisis, causing political instability on the Korean Peninsula. How will these changes impact the free world camp and its confrontation with the CCP?
A former professor from the CCP Party School analyzed that the so-called “China model” has no way out. Why is the US ambassador nominated by Trump making the CCP puzzled?
The US Congress took a significant action towards both the American and Chinese people, with the House passing a bill to educate American youth on the evils and nature of communism. A bipartisan resolution in the Senate aims to help the Chinese people’s right to information. Is it time to break through the CCP’s firewall as the new Cold War escalates?
The Syrian upheaval has seen rebel forces swiftly toppling Assad, who ruled Syria with an iron fist for half a century, as he fled to Moscow and the prime minister announced plans to transfer power. It was reported that Assad sought help from Trump previously, but Trump publicly stated that Syria is not an ally and the US will not intervene. Both Biden and Trump pointed out that in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war, Russia is unable to support Assad.
Both Russia and the CCP have lost allies in the Middle East, with the CCP inviting Assad last year aboard a special plane to Hangzhou’s Lingyin Temple.
▶ Wu Jialong, how do you view the reshuffling of the Middle East landscape? Is the CCP or its axis crumbling in the Middle East?
The impeachment of President Yoon Suk-Yeol in South Korea failed to pass in Parliament, leading to Yoon cooperating with the ruling party to orderly step down ahead of schedule. The opposition continues to push for impeachment proceedings.
Currently, it’s a confrontation between the free democratic camp and the communist authoritarian camp, focusing on hotspots in the Indo-Pacific region. In Northeast Asia, a triangle of the US, Japan, and South Korea confronts China, Russia, and North Korea. The demarcation to the north is the 38th parallel of the Korean Peninsula, while to the south, it is the Taiwan Strait.
▶ Wu Jialong, what are the geopolitical points to consider from this event?
Wu Jialong just mentioned the possibility of a “sudden change” in China. Former CCP Party School professor Cai Xia previously analyzed that the CCP’s autocracy exceeds fascism and pointed out several possible collapse scenarios, with the recent analysis demonstrating why the so-called “China model” is destined to fail.
Two recent high-profile personnel changes by Trump are drawing attention, with the reappointment of trade hawk Navarro as an advisor in the White House, and the nomination of former Senator Perdue as the US ambassador to Beijing. Perdue, who was the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, had previously served on the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees.
Bloomberg believes that Trump is trying to bring some pro-business voices to balance the hawkish elements in his cabinet. Perdue’s appointment could be an olive branch extended to Beijing, as his business background is seen as advantageous by some in China.
However, Perdue wrote an article in September clearly distinguishing between the CCP and China, stating that the US is in a new type of war initiated by the Chinese Communist Party, which will decide whether the free world will remain free. Without firing a single shot, the free world could be defeated. “The CCP firmly believes that its correct destiny is to reclaim its historical status as a world order hegemon – and turn the world towards Marxism.” The free world must come together to counter the threat posed by the CCP.
▶ Wu Jialong, some observations suggest that appointing Perdue may make the CCP “indecipherable”. How do you view these personnel changes?
On Friday, the US House passed the “Key Education Act on Communism” with 327 votes to 62, educating Generation Z on the dangers of communism and totalitarianism, ideologies that contradict American values and founding principles.
