Recently, Taiwan’s pop king Xiao Jingteng (Old Xiao), who is touring the mainland with the musical drama “The Scarlet Clasp,” announced on Weibo on the 19th that he was suddenly feeling unwell. He wrote, “Starting from last night, I felt weak all over, severe sore throat, and the doctor diagnosed it as a viral infection.” He expressed his inability to participate in the performances in Zhuhai on the 21st and 22nd.
Following Jacky Cheung’s RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) infection, Xiao Jingteng, who is currently in Shanghai, revealed on Weibo on the 19th that he had originally planned to fly to Zhuhai that day. He was preparing for the upcoming two-day performances of the musical drama “The Scarlet Clasp.” However, since the previous night, he had been feeling weak all over his body and had a severe sore throat, confirming it as a viral infection. He wrote, “I am very sorry that I must miss the performance in Zhuhai, feeling regretful and guilty. I apologize deeply for the inconvenience caused to my colleagues on and off the stage and to my friends who support me.”
Xiao Jingteng helplessly expressed, “I eagerly hope the virus will leave soon and I can return quickly. Thank you for your concern. I am sorry for not taking care of myself well. In the future, I will pay more attention so as not to make everyone worry or disappointed.” Following this, the production team also issued an apology statement and opened up ticket refunds for the audience.
Although it was only mentioned as a confirmed “viral infection,” the organizers of the musical drama, Jinwan Art Center, stated in a public notice that according to information from the following party, “Xiao Jingteng was confirmed with a coronavirus infection, leading to loss of voice and severe coughing, thus unable to perform.”
In response to this, some netizens joked, “Bold move to directly mention Lord Corona (novel coronavirus). Shall we no longer be afraid to speak its name?” “Is Corona no longer a taboo word?” “Local media reports on ‘viral infection’ and completely avoid mentioning the taboo word.” Mainland netizens also commented, “I testify, this year’s Corona is indeed very cough-inducing.”
Currently, the COVID-19 epidemic in China continues to spread, with the number of deaths increasing from ordinary citizens to high-ranking CCP officials. Many Chinese citizens have disclosed that recently, sudden deaths are everywhere, from the elderly to the young, across various regions. However, the Chinese authorities continue to conceal the truth. Despite more people going to hospitals for treatment than to shopping malls, the authorities have forbidden hospitals from conducting COVID-19 testing. As a result, many people do not even know the true cause of their illness.
