Sichuan Airlines Group Executives Investigated Successively in Corruption Case

In recent months, key figures from Sichuan Airlines Group, including former Chairman Wang Fengchao, Shi Zuyi, and Li Haiying, have been investigated one after another. Sichuan Airlines Group is the fifth largest aviation group in Mainland China.

Since 2026, several executives under the control of Sichuan Airlines Group, including Li Hang, former deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Wang Xianqiang, former chief economist, and Shi Zuqiu, former deputy general manager, have also come under investigation.

On September 7, 2026, according to a notice from the Sichuan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Li Haiying, the former Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Sichuan Airlines Group Co., Ltd. (Sichuan Airlines Group), is under investigation for serious violations of discipline and law.

Li Haiying, born in June 1961 in Kaifeng, Henan, served in the military from August 1979 to February 1993 before joining Sichuan Airlines Company. He held various leadership positions within the company, including Vice President, Vice General Manager, Party Committee Secretary, Director, Vice Chairman, and General Manager of Sichuan Airlines.

Shi Zuyi, who succeeded Li Haiying as the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Sichuan Airlines Group, was investigated on January 19, 2026, leading to his expulsion from the Party on August 25, 2026.

Before Li Haiying, Wang Fengchao, who previously held the position of Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Sichuan Airlines Group, was removed from office on November 26, 2026, while serving as the Mayor of Chengdu.

Wang Fengchao, born in December 1965 in Zhongjiang, Sichuan, had a long career in the state-owned enterprise Changhong Electronic Group before joining Sichuan Airlines Group in various leadership roles.

Since 2026, at least five more executives from Sichuan Airlines Group have been under investigation.

Chen Yan, former Service Marketing Director and Deputy General Manager of Sichuan Airlines, voluntarily surrendered to authorities on June 17, 2026. Similarly, Wang Xianqiang, former Chief Economist of Sichuan Airlines, was investigated on May 22, 2026, and Shi Zuqiu, former Deputy General Manager of Sichuan Airlines, was investigated on May 13, 2026.

On March 26, 2026, Xiao Zhengshan, former Vice General Manager of Sichuan Airlines Investment Management Co., Ltd., was also investigated, and on March 13, 2026, Li Hang, former member of the Party Committee of Sichuan Airlines and former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, was under investigation.
