On August 22nd this year, during the early hours of the morning, Ma’bian County in Leshan City, Sichuan Province, was hit by torrential rain and flash floods. The floods brought a large amount of mud and debris, submerging and damaging many vehicles, shops, and houses along the streets.
The Ma’bian County Meteorological Observatory issued an orange rainstorm warning at 1:33 am today, which was upgraded to a red rainstorm warning at 2:44 am. In areas such as Laodong Town, Minjian Town, and Jianshe Town, the rainfall exceeded 100 millimeters in three hours, while areas like Xuekou Mountain, Yanfeng, and Meilin received over 50 millimeters of rainfall in three hours.
According to a report by Chinanews.com, the heavy rainfall was accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds, and short-term intense precipitation. Throughout the city, there were 118 stations with light rain, 78 stations with moderate rain, 49 stations with heavy rain, 48 stations with torrential rain, and 19 stations with severe downpours. The highest recorded rainfall was in Chunl
