“One More Arrest in Xiao Tong’s Group Drawing Gathering,” Rumored to be Xiao Tong’s Uncle Zou Xingtong

Hong Kong police’s national security department recently arrested 7 individuals, including the former vice-chairman of the disbanded group, the Civil Human Rights Front, named Chow Hang-tung. On June 3rd, the national security department disclosed that they have apprehended another 62-year-old man in the Sha Tin district, bringing the total number of arrests in this case to 8. It is rumored to be Chow Hang-tung’s uncle.

According to the police, investigations revealed that a detained woman had been using at least 7 individuals who were arrested since April this year to anonymously post provocative content on a social media page aimed at inciting unrest on an upcoming sensitive date. The investigation also uncovered that one of the arrested women, aged 53, had been funding pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong and others through online subscription platforms, with an estimated amount of around 140,000 Hong Kong dollars.

The 62-year-old man who was arrested today is currently in custody. The other 7 individuals, excluding Chow Hang-tung, have been granted bail.
